Gabon: end of the “Bongo kingdom”
After the announcement of the results of the presidential election of August 26, proclaiming Ali Bongo the winner, soldiers took command announcing his dismissal and the establishment of a committee for the transition and tranquility of institutions while denouncing electoral disorder .

Among these soldiers, there are members of the Republican Guard, an elite unit and presidential guard. Ali Bongo will therefore not have benefited from his own succession.
